Use case
Signed and paid before they close the tab
Draftd puts the payment on the page the client signs. Split the fee into instalments, and the first one is paid by card into your own Stripe account, or by bank transfer with a reference, the moment they agree. Every instalment after that is tracked in Cashflow.
- First instalment paid on the signing page
- Card through your own Stripe, or bank transfer
- Draftd takes nothing from client payments
The problem
A yes is not money in the bank
The gap after the signature
They sign on Tuesday, you invoice on Thursday and the deposit lands three weeks later. You started the work in between.
Chasing feels awkward
Nobody wants the second conversation with a new client to be about an unpaid invoice.
Instalments in a spreadsheet
Fifty now, thirty at design sign-off, twenty at launch, tracked across five clients in a sheet only you understand.
What it does
How deposits work in Draftd
The deposit, on the spot
Set how they pay: 50/50, 50/30/20 or your own split. The client pays the first instalment by card on the page they just signed, straight into your Stripe account.
Let them choose a package
Offer two or three packages. The client chooses one as they sign, and the deposit and schedule are worked out from the price they chose.
Bank transfer too
Add your bank details and the client sees them with a reference to quote. Mark it received in Cashflow when it lands.
Cashflow in one place
Every instalment across every document under received, due now and still to come. Press Ask for it and the client is emailed a link straight to the card form.
Your prices, as written
Each service can carry its own payment terms, so a build takes 50% up front and a retainer starts on signing, without you setting it each time.
What you would send
Documents that take a deposit
Any work you would rather not start until the first payment is in.
- Brand identity, three packages
- Website build, 50/30/20
- Kitchen design consultation, 50/50
- Leadership offsite, deposit to book
- Annual accounts, paid in three instalments
How it works
From the call to the deposit, in one link
What actually happens, in order, from the first brief to the money arriving.
Tell it about your business
Your services and prices, your tone and the words you never use. Ten minutes, once, and it is the difference between a document that sounds like you and one that sounds like everybody.
Write the document
Paste a call transcript or answer a short brief, pick a structure, and a full draft comes back in about a minute. Edit anything. Nothing is locked.
Send it from you
The client gets a link to a page in your branding. Replies come to you, and you see when it is opened and how often.
They sign in the browser
No account and no printer. They choose a package if you offered more than one, type their name and sign, and you get an email the moment they do.
The deposit is paid on the same page
By card straight into your Stripe account, or by bank transfer. The rest of the payments, and any retainer, are tracked in Cashflow until they arrive.
Which plan
From £19 a month, free for 14 days
Payments are on every plan. Starter gives 10 sends a month for one person; Growth (£39 a month) suits a team that wants several people watching Cashflow.
Questions
Questions about deposits on signing
Where does the deposit go?
Into your own Stripe account. You connect it once and the client pays by card on the page they signed. Draftd never sees the card details or takes a share.
Can clients pay by bank transfer instead?
Yes. Add your bank details and the client sees them with a reference. When the money arrives, mark the instalment paid in Cashflow.
Does Draftd chase unpaid instalments?
No. Draftd sends nothing on its own. When an instalment is due, press Ask for it in Cashflow and the client gets an email with a link straight to the card form.
What if I do not use Stripe or bank transfer?
The document says you will invoice each instalment, and the schedule is still set out for the client to see when they sign.
What does it cost to take payments?
Plans start at £19 a month, with 14 days free. Draftd takes nothing from client payments; Stripe charges its own fees on your account.
