Draftd product
Paid on the page they signed
Draftd puts the payment on the same page as the signature. Split the fee into instalments and the client pays the first by card as soon as they sign, straight into your own Stripe account. Retainers and bank transfer work too, and Draftd takes nothing from what your clients pay.
- Your own Stripe account, paid to you directly
- Instalments, retainers or both on one document
- Draftd takes no cut of client payments
The problem
Signed is not the same as paid
The invoice comes later
The client says yes, then you raise an invoice, then you wait, then you start. The gap is days you are working for free or not working at all.
Retainers need chasing
A monthly fee that relies on a monthly invoice is a monthly reminder you have to remember to send.
Platforms take a share
Some tools sit between you and your client’s money and keep a percentage of every payment on the way through.
What it does
How clients pay you through Draftd
The deposit, on the spot
Set how they pay: 50/50, 50/30/20 or your own split. The client pays the first instalment by card on the page they just signed, into your Stripe account.
Retainers that bill themselves
Give the retainer a label, an amount and an interval. The client sets it up once when they sign, and Stripe charges them each month after.
Let them choose a package
Offer packages at different prices. Whichever the client picks, the total and the payment schedule follow from it, worked out by the server rather than by hand.
Bank transfer too
Prefer bank transfer? Add your details and the client sees them with a reference to quote. Mark it paid in Cashflow when it lands.
Cashflow in one place
Every instalment from every document in one list, under received, due now and still to come. When one is due, Ask for it emails the client a link straight to the card form.
What you would send
Documents that get paid
Any proposal or statement of work can carry a payment schedule. A document can hold a setup fee and a retainer at once.
- Fixed-fee project, 50% on signing
- Website build in three instalments
- Monthly retainer with a setup fee
- Three packages, each with its own schedule
- Statement of work paid by bank transfer
How it works
From the call to the deposit, in one link
What actually happens, in order, from the first brief to the money arriving.
Tell it about your business
Your services and prices, your tone and the words you never use. Ten minutes, once, and it is the difference between a document that sounds like you and one that sounds like everybody.
Write the document
Paste a call transcript or answer a short brief, pick a structure, and a full draft comes back in about a minute. Edit anything. Nothing is locked.
Send it from you
The client gets a link to a page in your branding. Replies come to you, and you see when it is opened and how often.
They sign in the browser
No account and no printer. They choose a package if you offered more than one, type their name and sign, and you get an email the moment they do.
The deposit is paid on the same page
By card straight into your Stripe account, or by bank transfer. The rest of the payments, and any retainer, are tracked in Cashflow until they arrive.
Which plan
From £19 a month, free for 14 days
Payments are on every plan, and Draftd takes nothing from them on any plan. Starter at £19 a month is enough to start taking deposits on signing.
Questions
Questions about payments
Does Draftd take a percentage of payments?
No. Client payments go to your own Stripe account and Draftd takes nothing from them. Stripe charges its usual processing fees to you as it would anywhere else.
Does Draftd see my clients’ card details?
No. Cards are entered into Stripe’s own form and Draftd never sees the details.
Will Draftd chase late payments for me?
Draftd sends nothing on its own. When an instalment is due, press Ask for it in Cashflow and the client is emailed a link straight to the card form.
What if I do not use Stripe?
Add your bank details and the client sees them with a reference, then you mark the payment received when it lands. With neither Stripe nor bank details, the document says you will invoice each instalment.
