Draftd for freelancers
Quotes that look bigger than one person
Draftd writes proposals and quotes for designers, copywriters and developers who work on their own, at the rates you charge and in the way you write. The client reads it on a page in your branding, signs it and pays the deposit there, so the work starts with money in the bank.
- A polished proposal in minutes, not an evening
- Deposit paid by card before you start
- Your logo, colours and type on every page
The problem
Doing the work is the easy bit
Quoting is unpaid work
Every proposal is an hour or two you cannot bill, written in a document you copied from the last client and hope you renamed everywhere.
Work starts before money does
The client is keen, so you start. The deposit invoice sits unpaid until the first draft is already in their inbox.
A Word file says one person
Bigger clients judge the supplier by the paperwork. A plain attachment makes a capable freelancer look like a risk.
What it does
What Draftd does for a freelancer
Your prices, as written
Your day rate, your project prices and your deposit terms, quoted exactly. Put £2,400 for the identity and the proposal says £2,400.
The deposit, on the spot
Ask for half up front, or a third, or your own split. The client pays the first part by card on the page they signed, straight to your Stripe account.
Looks like yours
Your logo, colours and fonts on a page that looks designed, which matters when design is what you sell.
Edit anything, regenerate nothing
Change a line, drop in a moodboard image or ask for a timeline table at the cursor. Nothing else in the proposal moves.
Know when it is read
See when the client opened the quote and how often, so you know whether to follow up or leave it a day.
What you would send
The documents a freelancer sends
Quotes for one-off jobs, scopes for the bigger ones and a retainer for the client who keeps coming back.
- Brand identity proposal
- Website copy, two options
- Statement of work for an app build
- Content audit for an existing site
- Monthly design retainer
How it works
From the call to the deposit, in one link
What actually happens, in order, from the first brief to the money arriving.
Tell it about your business
Your services and prices, your tone and the words you never use. Ten minutes, once, and it is the difference between a document that sounds like you and one that sounds like everybody.
Write the document
Paste a call transcript or answer a short brief, pick a structure, and a full draft comes back in about a minute. Edit anything. Nothing is locked.
Send it from you
The client gets a link to a page in your branding. Replies come to you, and you see when it is opened and how often.
They sign in the browser
No account and no printer. They choose a package if you offered more than one, type their name and sign, and you get an email the moment they do.
The deposit is paid on the same page
By card straight into your Stripe account, or by bank transfer. The rest of the payments, and any retainer, are tracked in Cashflow until they arrive.
Which plan
From £19 a month, free for 14 days
Starter suits most freelancers: 10 documents sent a month and one brand, for £19. Writing drafts does not count towards the limit, only sending them.
Questions
Questions from freelancers
Can I take a deposit before I start?
Yes. Split the fee into the payments you want and the client pays the first by card on the page they just signed. It goes straight to your own Stripe account, and Draftd takes nothing from it.
I do not use Stripe. Can clients still pay?
Yes. Add your bank details and the client sees them with a reference to quote. You mark the payment received in Cashflow when it lands. With neither, the document says you will invoice each payment.
Will my client see the Draftd name?
On Starter and Growth, emails go from Draftd’s address under your business name and replies come to you. Sending from your own domain and removing the Draftd name are on Scale.
How do I stop the scope creeping?
Send a statement of work alongside or after the proposal. It pins down what is included and what is not, and once the client signs it, it cannot be edited.
What does it cost?
Plans start at £19 a month, with 14 days free and AI credit to start. A proposal costs a few pence of AI time, or you can use your own API key.
